Rental terms & conditions

At Solar Self Drive we keep the rentals process simple and transparent. Here's what you need to know:

• MINIMUM AGE is 25 for renting cars & vans up to 3.5 tonne GVW, 7 Seat MPV and 7.5 tonne 
• MINIMUM AGE is 30 for renting 9 seater minibuses
• MAXIMUM AGE: 75

DRIVING EXPERIENCE: All drivers must have held a valid Driving Licence for at least 2 years which must be shown at the time of hiring, both card and counterpart. Operators Licence is required for all vehicles over and above 7.5ton GVW (excluding vehicles hired for personal removals). Any driving licence with endorsements will require clearance and may invoke special terms.

INSURANCE: 18 ton & minibus vehicles require customer's own insurance.

CONVICTIONS: No booking will be accepted from any person convicted of a motoring offence under the classifications: UT50, CD40-70, DD60-80, BA10-30 or any person convicted of a motoring offence in the last 5 years classified as DR10-90, TT99, DD30-40.

ACCIDENTS: No hiring will be accepted from any person who has been involved in more than one accident in the past 3 years.

DAMAGE: The hirer will be responsible for all damage caused by striking an overhead object and damage caused by negligence or misuse. No claims will be accepted when damage sustained while not on public highway.

RENTAL PERIOD: The initial rental period must not be extended without the prior agreement of Solar Self Drive.

CREDIT & PAYMENT: Credit Accounts available on application. Payment by debit/credit card only.

OVERSEAS USE: Continental vehicle use is available, subject to additional charges.
